Your gut health is trying to tell you something’s wrong and we can help you figure it out.
Specialized nutrition counseling for IBS, digestive disorders, gut dysbiosis, and chronic digestive symptoms — covered by insurance.

Bloating after every meal. Unpredictable bowel movements. Food that used to be fine, suddenly isn’t.
Maybe you’ve started keeping a mental list of safe foods—the ones that won’t send you running to the bathroom or leave you looking six months pregnant by 3pm. Maybe you’ve started declining dinner invitations because you can’t predict how your stomach is going to behave. Maybe you’ve just accepted that this is how your body works now. It doesn’t have to be.
Chronic digestive symptoms are some of the most responsive to targeted nutritional intervention when the root cause is properly identified. The conventional approach of eliminating foods randomly or following a generic low-FODMAP protocol often provides incomplete or temporary relief at best.
At Functional Nutrition Rx, we take gut health seriously — and we take the diagnostic side of it seriously too.
Your gut isn’t just where digestion happens.
It’s home to roughly 70% of your immune system, produces the majority of your body’s serotonin, communicates directly with your brain via the gut-brain axis, and plays a central role in hormone metabolism, inflammation regulation, and nutrient absorption.
When your gut is out of balance, the ripple effects extend far beyond your digestive system. Gut dysfunction has been linked to:
- Chronic fatigue and low energy
- Mood disorders including anxiety and depression
- Skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, and acne
- Autoimmune flares and inflammation
- Hormonal imbalances, particularly estrogen-related
- Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
- Nutrient deficiencies despite an apparently healthy diet
- Recurring infections and immune dysregulation
Truly treating gut health means relieving digestive symptoms and restoring a system that affects almost every other aspect of your health.
Gut Health Conditions We Specialize In
01
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is one of the most common and most frustrating digestive diagnoses — and often comes without much guidance about what to actually do about it. We work with IBS clients to identify their specific symptom triggers, assess the underlying mechanisms (including gut dysbiosis, visceral hypersensitivity, and motility issues), and implement evidence-based nutritional strategies that go well beyond generic dietary advice.
02
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
SIBO occurs when bacteria that should be in the large intestine migrate and overgrow in the small intestine — causing bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and altered bowel habits that can look a lot like IBS. Nutritional management of SIBO requires a specific, phased approach that addresses both the overgrowth and the underlying conditions that allowed it to develop.
03
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis require specialized nutritional support that goes well beyond generic anti-inflammatory advice. We work with IBD clients to support gut healing, address nutritional deficiencies that commonly accompany IBD, reduce inflammatory dietary triggers, and build a sustainable eating pattern that supports remission and quality of life.
04
Leaky Gut / Intestinal Permeability
Increased intestinal permeability — commonly referred to as leaky gut — allows partially digested food particles and bacteria to cross into the bloodstream, triggering immune responses and systemic inflammation. We use functional testing and targeted nutritional strategies to support gut barrier integrity and reduce the downstream inflammatory effects.
05
Dysbiosis and Microbiome Imbalances
Your gut microbiome is a complex ecosystem — and when it’s out of balance, the consequences are widespread. We use advanced stool testing including the GI-MAP and Gut Zoomer to assess the state of your microbiome and build a personalized nutrition strategy to restore balance.
06
Heartburn, GERD, and Reflux
Chronic acid reflux is often treated with medication alone — but there’s a significant nutritional component that’s frequently overlooked. We work with clients to identify dietary triggers, address underlying issues like low stomach acid or delayed gastric emptying, and reduce reliance on medications through evidence-based nutritional strategies.
Why we use functional gut testing here
Standard digestive workups are important, but they’re often not enough to explain chronic symptoms. Your first appointment begins with a thorough review of your digestive history, symptom patterns, dietary habits, and any previous testing or treatment.
From there, we determine whether advanced functional stool testing would add useful clinical information. When indicated, the GI-MAP and Gut Zoomer panel give us a DNA-level picture of your gut microbiome identifying pathogens, bacterial imbalances, inflammation markers, and digestive function indicators that standard tests miss.
That level of detail allows us to build a nutrition plan that’s actually targeted to what’s happening in your gut, not a best guess. And practical by design: realistic, sustainable, and built around your real life, not an extreme elimination protocol that leaves you afraid to eat.
We believe in giving your gut what it needs to heal, reducing inflammatory inputs, and rebuilding a nourishing relationship with food.
You deserve to eat without anxiety. Let’s get there.
